This is a true story and it also has the distinction of quite possibly the only German spy that was allowed by the British to supposedly succeed with his mission of confirming that Major Martin RN Marines was real and that the "secret plans" he carried when he was washed up drowned on the Spanish coast were also real which convinced the Germans into re-positioning much of their defenses out of Sicily.
